Healing Trauma Through Movement

Trauma is stored in our bodies.

As the result of trauma, your body can become shut down & difficult or scary to feel. You may feel like empty, worthless, overwhelmed with depression, anxiety or panic attacks.

Maybe you just want to breathe again.

You are not stuck. There is a way to change this. Through movement, you can get in touch with your essential worthiness. You can grow a deeper level of self love and acceptance.

It’s possible to experience more power and pleasure in your life.

Reclaim Your Body provides a space for you to take exquisite care of yourself.

Yes, we are practicing body connection and resolving trauma, but what we are really doing is becoming more precious to ourselves.

Move your body in a way that feels truly nourishing to you.

Through a series of gentle movements you will be invited to notice sensations. You will be invited to stretch, engage your muscles and relax. You will be invited to listen.

Everything is offered as an invitation.

Each activity is optional. Multiple variations are offered in each physical form and you will be encouraged to choose your level of participation moment to moment.

Together we will practice making choices and taking effective action.

You are in control of your experience throughout the class and will be encouraged to opt in or out as we go. We will practice boundaries and listening to ourselves.

This protocol rewires your brain and nervous system to integrate and transcend trauma. 

I believe that your body knows what you most need in each moment. We will practice listening to our bodies and allowing our embodied intelligence to have plenty of space to grow strong.

This class is for:

  • Trauma survivors with or without a diagnosis of all genders

  • Survivors of physical, emotional, mental, sexual or medical abuse

  • People who have experienced neglect, bullying, systemic oppression

  • Both folks who have little experience with embodiment and experienced movers

Class Details:

This journey includes weekly in-person classes where students will engage in community building and group process to keep you accountable to your goals and support you throughout the process.

Each class includes education on trauma theory and healing trauma through the body, in addition to an extended Trauma Sensitive Yoga practice session.

You can choose to receive 1-1 support from Kelsey as well if you could benefit from personalized attention and more support in unwinding specific trauma responses in your nervous system.

Your journey includes…

  • Weekly in-person classes (each class is 90 minutes and includes movement & discussion)

  • Weekly Online Video Classes (pre-recorded and can be watched at any time)

  • Weekly journaling prompts & suggested reading (provided through the online platform)

  • Access to online resource list (provided through online platform)

  • Option to add on private sessions with Kelsey (online or in person in Oakland)

Class Details:

Weekly classes will be held in the East Bay on a weekday evening. Details coming soon!

Add private sessions:

  • For a more personalized experience, you can add two private sessions with Kelsey, one at the beginning of the program and one at the end. Each 60-minute session includes a blend of Trauma Sensitive Yoga and Somatic Experiencing to help you complete unfinished trauma responses, rewire your neural networks towards resilience and guide you towards nervous system regulation.

  • During the first private session, we will identify your personal goals for the course. At the following session we will check in to assess how the course is going for you and develop a personalized plan for integration of the course material into your life.

  • Each private session includes an intake to determine the best somatic healing approach customized to your needs. Kelsey will draw upon 10 years of facilitation experience to craft a program that works for you.
